Intel Atom Z3770 Bay Trail Performance Revealed

If Lilputing is to be believed then apparently Intel’s next generation Bay Trail platform will have some super impressive performance. Based on Geekbench performance scores Intel’s Atom Z3770 dispatches of its predecessors based on the Clover Trail(+) platforms. The reason why above result is impressive is that final samples of the Atom Z3770 will run at 2.4GHz but the above results come from a sample running at 1.4GHz. Consequently by basic maths the final Z3770 will run at a 70% faster clock speed meaning around a 70% better Geekbench score to the tune of 3588. This would make Intel’s Atom Z3770 faster than both Temash and Kabini.
That said Temash has a TDP of 8W and Kabini of 15W. We do not know Intel’s Bay Trail T Z3770’s TDP but typical power consumption is reportedly 2W. That said AMD’s Temash and Kabini probably have much lower “typical power consumption” figures than their stated TDPs but Intel’s Atom Z3770 no doubt has better overall performance due to using the latest 22nm architecture.
Naturally it is worth pointing out that since these results are from an engineering sample we might see totally difference results when retail units hit. But until then watch this space because things could get really exciting in the tablet market in terms of Intel vs AMD vs ARM.
