Intel Core i7 2700k Flagship Showdown Review

PCMark 7PCMark 7 provides a set of 7 suites for measuring different aspects of PC performance with a high degree of accuracy. Overall system performance is measured by the PCMark Suite. The Lightweight Suite measures the capabilities of entry level systems and mobility platforms unable to run the full PCMark suite. Common use performance is measured by the Entertainment, Creativity and Productivity scenario suites. Component performance is measured by the Computation and Storage hardware suites. The Storage suite is ideal for testing SSDs and external hard drives in addition to the system drive.

When we test, we have to leave a bit of a margin for error, as we can see, when overclocked, the i7 2600k actually performed better, but this would vary every time we run the test. The results were in-line with what we were expecting and the AMD flagship still was left in the dark.

    1. That's correct, to compare to the other processors (fx-8150) we had to find a common ground that they could all clock to. That was 4.6GHz. We then also show the MAX overclock of the chip which is 5.3GHz, but the FX 8150 can't do this under our condition.
