Intel Core i7 2700k Flagship Showdown Review

To test power consumption, we monitor the overall power of the system through a plug-in electricity usage monitor at an idle and load state. This allows us to show the fluctuation between how much power draw the system takes at idle and at load. By monitoring the overall usage of the whole system, it gives an easy comparison if you wish to do the same yourself as opposed to buying very expensive individual testing equipment.

The i7 2700k and Core i7 series in general shows why it’s still the bos when it comes to power consumption as it offers significantly better idle and load results of the complete system draw. This is all down to the technology invested into the 32nm processor and by maintaining a low TDP.

    1. That's correct, to compare to the other processors (fx-8150) we had to find a common ground that they could all clock to. That was 4.6GHz. We then also show the MAX overclock of the chip which is 5.3GHz, but the FX 8150 can't do this under our condition.
