Intel Core i9-7920X 12 Core CPU CPU-Z Leaked

With every new launch, it seems like more leaks are available. After running a tight ship for years, Intel is starting to leak like a sieve for their upcoming launches. Earlier in the week, Intel released some official information about their new Core i9-7920X 12 Core processor. The listing only revealed pricing base clock speed. However, we now have a leaked CPU-Z screenshot to fill in the gaps.

For the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X lineup, Intel is doing a staggered release. We’ve already seen the 10 cores processors arrive but the 12 to 18 models have yet to appear. The next model we are expecting is the Core i9-7920X. Intel has already confirmed the base clock speed as 2.9 GHz and a selling price of $1,189. The CPU-Z we have details the rest of the 12 core 24 thread processor.

Core i9-7920X Looks Competitive Against AMD Threadripper

The i9-7920X features a Turbo Boost clock speed of 4.0 GHz. The CPU-Z screenshot also shows a maximum multiplier of 44x which interesting. Of course, this speed will not be reached when all the cores are maxed out. The chip also features Turbo Boost Max 3 which will help it reach boost speeds faster and maintain them better. The chip also has 16.5 MB of L3 and 12 MB of L2 cache. The near parity is due to Intel redesigning their cache hierarchy to boost single threaded performance.

Compared to the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X, Intel’s chip clocks a bit lower. However, Intel still has the clock speed advantage and perhaps multi threaded efficiency. The real key is pricing, with the 1920X being $400 cheaper, making the 7920X 50% more expensive. It will be interesting to see how price/performance will play out in the real world.
