Intel Haswell Ultrabooks detailed at IDF

Intel’s Haswell based Ultrabooks will be split into two segments according to Intel documents provided at IDF 2012. There will be both standard and high end segments.

For standard Haswell Ultrabooks there will be the provision of mainstay technologies like long 9 hour battery life, 720p cameras and responsive voice commands. Whilst the latest revision also sees WiDi (Intel Wireless Display Technology), dual 802.11n Wi-Fi and anti-malware protection added to the mix. Standard Ultrabooks based on Haswell will start at about $699.

The High End Haswell Ultrabooks will feature a lot more. They have been spec’d for the potential to have hybrid and innovative form factors – possibly tablet with attachable keyboard? They will support Windows 8 connected standby, feature a touch screen display with is full HD or better, a standalone SSD, WWAN, facial recognition, CCF 2.0 and for corporate customers – vPro.

“On OEM sample end, these Ultrabooks would use an HSW 2+3, 2x2GB x32LPDDR3 (1600), 128GB SSD Storage. Each Ultrabook would have an 13″ Display supporting 1920×1080 and also an 1080P USB camera. Specific models are said to tone down overall TDP down to 10W from 17W.

Baseline models would have 2×2 GB x 16 DDR3L (1600), storage is 320GB HDD and a 32GB SSD. Resolution of the 13″ display would be 1366×768 while camera would support 720P. These Ultrabooks are expected to ship in mid-2013.”
