Intel’s Ivy Bridge has been out since late April now but we’ve still only seen Core i5 and Core i7 quad core variants. Now Intel is finally getting around to releasing the Core i3 processors built from the Ivy Bridge architecture. There will be 5 Ivy Bridge based Core i3 processors in the first wave of launches from Intel, more could be released later on.
The processors up on pre-order are the Core i3-3240 and Core i3-3220. The Core i3-3240 is clocked at 3.40 GHz, while the i3-3220 runs at 3.30 GHz. The two are socket LGA1155 dual-core processors featuring 3 MB of L3 cache. When launched, the i3-3240 will sell for around US $147, while the i3-3220 will sell for US $125.
Pre-order listings for these have been found in the Ukraine as shown here. Other reports also show that Core i3 pre-orders have popped up in Israel, Malaysia, Germany and China as well as the Ukraine. With so many countries listing pre-order availability expect that the launch for Ivy Bridge core i3 processors is just a few weeks away at the most.
