Intel first launched its Skull Canyon NUC (next unit of computing) mini PC last year. The impressive hardware boasted a 6th Gen Core i7-6770HQ, M.2 support, and DDR4 RAM of up to 32GB. Now, the company is launching a new series of Skull Canyon NUCs, featuring its new 8th Gen Coffee Lake CPUs.
The new Skull Canyon NUCs will feature 8th Gen Core i3, i5, and i7 Coffee Lake-U processors, according to a FanlessTech exclusive. However, don’t get too excited yet: release isn’t expected until mid-2018.
FanlessTech reveals:
“Just when we thought that Intel was gearing up for lower NUC TDP, Chipzilla might try to reinvent the NUC as a legit desktop replacement with powerful 28W chips. The trio run at 28W TDP. We’re hearing that three “Coffee Lake U” models are in the works for Q2 2018.
Additionally, the popular Skull Canyon gaming NUC is finally getting an eDRAM-laden sequel.”
FanlessTech lists the following new models:
FanlessTech adds, “For those asking, there will be no “Kaby Lake Refresh” NUC.” Intel is yet to officially confirm its intention for new Skull Canyon NUCs.
