Intel LGA18XX Socket Appears in Leaked Image

With Intel’s Alder Lake-S CPUs set for release later this year (probably around September-October), we will officially see the debut of the LGA-1700 socket and, of course, all the other tasty tech launches that are coming alongside it. DDR5 memory, for example. While Alder Lake-S is certainly exciting, however, you always need to keep one eye on what the future has in store for us in the tech world. Following a report via Videocardz, however, we have something very unusual indeed. – A leaked image has appeared online that makes a clear reference to the Intel LGA-18XX socket. Something not expected to make its debut for several years!

Intel LGA-18XX Socket

The actual utilisation of the LGA-18XX is something of a complete mystery. However, it’s understood that both Intel’s 12th-gen and 13th-gen CPUs will be sticking with the same socket design, with some sources claiming that LGA-1700 might have even extended its stay until their 14th-gen processors. – As part of this leak, however, it is suggested that the image below of the LGA-18XX socket refers to their 14th-gen ‘Meteor-Lake’ CPUs and, by proxy, it would seemingly suggest that LGA-1700 will only be sticking around for two generations.

Given that this is Intel, however, who change sockets like underpants, we can’t pretend that this is surprising.

What Do We Think?

We should note that there is absolutely nothing that confirms this image to be genuine. So, in other words, take all of this with a pretty hefty grain of salt, even more so in the fact that if this is from Intel’s Meteor Lake CPUs, don’t expect to hear anything about those for at least a couple of years. – Given that this processor architecture is set to be Intel’s first debut in the 7nm node design, however, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on and, dare I say, perhaps look forward to!
