Intel Preparing 34 Xeon Gold and Platinum CPUs—Including 28C/56T Processor

Looks like Intel is preparing a great number of options for their Xeon line, as seen through their last issued product change notification on Monday. In the document, Intel has named 34 future Xeon server processors which also confirm the use of Xeon Gold and Xeon Platinum nomenclature. These are Skylake SP processors that are designed for the Purley platform which Intel claims is their biggest platform advancement since Nehalem.

The naming scheme is based on the core count, with the Xeon Platinum 8000 line representing the top having 24 core to 28 core options, the Xeon Gold 6000 line having 14 to 22 cores, and also expected are Xeon Silver 4000 and Xeon Bronze 3000 models with 12 to 12 cores, and less than 10 cores respectively.  Within the lineup, there are also power variants marked T and M. The Xeon Gold and Platinum base clocks range from 2.0 to 3.6GHz. The top CPU in the line is the Xeon Platinum 8180 which will have 28 cores and 56 threads. According to ComputerBase.de, this processor has 5MB of L3 cache and has a TDP of 205 watts.

The smaller core-count Xeon Silver 4000 and Bronze 3000 models are not listed yet and the delay implies they could be part of the Basin Falls platform instead.
