Intel preparing Cable TV service and Set Top Box

According to a report, Intel is preparing to launch its virtual Cable TV and set top box service. Intel would be rolling this out on a city-to-city basis so that they can negotiate licenses with certain content providers.

The service would be providing content from traditional channels and streaming services. It’s also rumoured that Intel’s box may use facial recognition to power up dynamic ads, improved targeting and also performance measurement.

Intel’s plan is to make a set top box and subscription TV service where people can stream TV but don’t want to entirely throw away a cable connection and lose some of their favourite content. The source told Techcrunch that Intel is dead serious about this venture.
