Intel shows their own liquid cooling solution for Sandy Bridge-E

Reported some time ago, Intel was going to get rid of the standard heatsink currently present in all of Intel’s processors and replace them with a liquid cooling solution to go with their upcoming Sandy Bridge-E Core i7 LGA2011 processors.

Presented at the ongoing IDF, Intel presented their cooling solution that will not only be compatible with the LGA2011 but with the most recent sockets as well, including LGA1155, 1156 and 1366.

Manufactured by Asetek, the unit itself resembles easily one of today’s top liquid cooling solutions. Called the RTS2011LC, the unit is a closed-loop rated for processors with a TDP of up to 130W. Composed of a copper block housing the pump and a flexible tubing connected to the radiator with the reservoir built in, which looks a lot like Corsair’s H70, and is equipped with a 120mm fan with a rather unique design. Just like Asetek’s, the Intel logo on the heatsink lights up blue.

This unit will most probably be available around the same time as the LGA2011 processors and could be priced at $99.
