Intel is reportedly planning the launch of 20 new processors in Q1 and 20 new processors in Q2 bringing a large total of 40 processors for the first half of 2012. All processors will be Intel Xeon processors based off either Sandy Bridge-E architecture (for Q1 launches) and Ivy Bridge architecture (for Q2 launches). Interestingly enough the Xeon E5-2690 will be the fastest 8 core Intel has produced based off the Sandy Bridge-E architecture so if the EVGA SR3 dual socket LGA 2011 motherboard does materialise this is what most enthusiasts will probably be using for it.
In the first quarter, Intel will release two six-core processors Xeon E5-1660 and 1650 and a quad-core processor priced at US$1,080, US$583 and US$294, respectively and will launch seven eight-core processors including Xeon E5-2690, four six-core processors including E5-2640, three quad-core processors including E5-2609 and dual-core processor E5-2637.
In the second quarter of 2012, Intel will release 11 Ivy Bridge-H2 series CPUs including Xeon E3-1290v2, priced between US$189-884 and seven more processors including Xeon E5-2470, priced between US$192-1,440.
As for its low-power consumption platform, Intel will release eight-core Xeon E5-2650L, six-core E5-2630L, priced at US$1,106 and US$662 in the first quarter, and will launch Xeon E5-2450L and six-core E5-2430L priced at US$1,106 and US$662.
