Intel to Release Next Wave of Alder Lake-S CPUs in Mid-Jan?

It’s been well speculated for quite some time now that following the initial release of Alder Lake-S processors earlier this month, Intel would follow this up with a second wave likely set to be revealed at CES 2022. Now, given that CES starts on January 5th, while this gave us potential launch windows, it didn’t necessarily confirm anything in regards to when the new CPUs would hit retailers. In other words, when they’d be available to buy.

Well, following a report via TechPowerUp, a reliable leak source has not only provided us with some potential specifications for these new processors, but they’re also claiming that they’ll hit a general release in mid-January!

Intel Alder Lake-S

The next wave of Intel Alder Lake-S processors will seemingly look to get the “locked” variants out on the market. And for those of you unfamiliar with the term, this basically means that these CPUs will not carry any built-in overclocking features. – Given the overall range and specifications of the series, however, it is already being speculated that the launch of these CPUs may very well also see the official debut of alternative motherboards to the top-spec Z690 platform.

Yes, B660 and H670 may also be arriving in mid-January as well.

What Do We Think?

CES 2022 will represent the first time in 2 years that the event has been capable of being held as a physical event. As such, January is going to be an insanely busy month for brand new tech releases. And not just from Intel, but from practically everyone. Are we really going to see the launch and release of B660 and H670 motherboards though? Well, while it does seem logical based on some of these CPU models seemingly being a bit underwhelming for a top-spec design, I would note that, so far, we haven’t seen any leaks regarding some of the upcoming B660 and H670 designs we can probably expect.

Put simply, this is very unusual. While Z690 didn’t officially release until earlier this month, we saw plenty surrounding it from as early as July. Either B660 and H670 are staying amazingly under the radar, or they’re not going to be released this January. However, with only around 6 weeks to go, we don’t have much longer to wait before we find out.
