Intel is launching three new “blazing fast” Optane SSDs. Indeed, the Optane 900P trio – two PCIe and one U.2 – boast speeds of up to 550,000 IOPS read and write. In fact, Intel is able to achieve this impressive feat through 3D XPoint memory, rather than the traditional NAND. Intel produces 3D XPoint in conjunction with Micron.
To celebrate the Optane 900P launch, Intel is releasing an exclusive Star Citizen ship (pictured below).
Chris Roberts, chairman and CEO at Cloud Imperium Games and Roberts Space Industries, said:
“The Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series is amazingly fast, easily the fastest drive I have ever used. Our Star Engine developers have been working on technology to improve loading times using new techniques developed for Star Citizen and optimized for the Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series, which is the fastest SSD we’ve tested. We continue to enhance Star Citizen so the performance benefits with Intel® Optane™ drives will continue to grow, alongside Star Citizen, into the future.”
The 480GB and 240GB Intel Optane 900P SSDs are out now. Pricing is as follows:
