Intel’s i7-14700K Already Being Sold In Indonesia Before Official Release

Intel’s i7-14700K is the most interesting chip coming from the Raptor Lake Refresh down to its increased core count over its 13th-generation predecessor and whilst this chip has yet to be officially revealed, an Indonesian store has already started selling the 14700K.

14700K Already On Shelves In Indonesia

A Reddit user by the name of PantatRebus has just shared a photo of an i7-14700K which they claim to have bought from an Indonesian store for 7.45 Million IDR, which is around £390 or $480. PantatRebus claimed that when purchasing the CPU they asked three times if it was actually ready to be sold to a customer and the seller confirmed it three times despite the fact it definitely isn’t.

Of course, people are sceptical so PantatRebus took advantage of the fact that they aren’t actually bound by an NDA, and shared some CPUZ and Cinebench 2024 results to prove that the chip is real. The chip was tested on an unnamed B660M ITX motherboard using stock DDR4 speeds as XMP wasn’t very happy. They were also using a weak ITX cooler which struggled to keep this chip cool maxing out at 92°C. Fortunately they have a Z790 and DDR5 motherboard on the way in the future so they won’t be struggling for much longer. All of the scores are visible below.

Official Release

I doubt Intel will be doing much about this Indonesian reseller jumping the gun on these chips, from what I can tell this is a common occurrence in Indonesia. For the official release date of the chip, we do have the expectation for October 16th which is when we will likely see the official benchmarks from reviewers and on more adequate systems, although we can already see some of those results on geekbench as some have forgotten to scrub their data after they test the chips.
