Internet Explorer Takes Another Step Closer to Death!

Internet Explorer has been experiencing its death rattle for more than a few years now. And death rattle is an appropriate term as while it has been on the verge of dying for years Microsoft has always seemed a little reluctant to finally pull the plug on its once near-total market dominant browser.

Following a report via Neowin, however, it seems that for Windows 10 users Internet Explorer has undoubtedly taken one major step closer towards its technological demise as a new update has effectively seen the browser not so much killed off, but more specifically, only now redirecting users to Edge.

Internet Explorer’s Death Looms Larger!

According to the report (I can’t personally confirm as I’m on Windows 11), following a somewhat minor update to its Edge browser which started rolling out earlier this week, any user who attempts to load up Internet Explorer (which is still technically available on the platform) will automatically now be simply redirected to Edge instead (with a little polite message informing you that, paraphrasing somewhat, ‘Edge is the future’).

Admittedly though, there are very few people still utilising Internet Explorer and while its eventual (and hugely drawn out) demise will mark a somewhat sad day in the realms of online nostalgia, you do start to get the wish that Microsoft would just hurry up and kill this off for good!
