InvizBox 2 Kickstarter Promises Easy VPN for Everyone
Bohs Hansen / 7 years ago
The InvizBox 2 Kickstarter campaign is nearing its end and they are close to fulfilling their pledge target. InvizBox 2 is a simple-to-use box, allowing everyone to take advantage of VPNs. That includes people who don’t have the technological skills to set such things up manually.
What is InvizBox 2?
InvizBox 2 is a VPN box, nothing more, nothing less. It does come with some cool bonus features, but you’ll still need your normal router. The InvizBox 2 doesn’t have the features in that regard, at least not according to the companies introduction video. Still, you get a nice device.
The company has IP Vanish as a partner, a large VPN provider with 500 servers in 20 countries. With it, they’re able to deliver peak speeds up to 200 Mbps. That is, if your internet connection allows it and if the servers are located close to both you and the target. It also features its own dual-band WiFi hotspot with an AC1200 rating. That’s a bit out-of-date with today’s technology, but enough for the VPN capabilities.
It is ready to use right out of the box, thus removing all the complicated settings from the user’s side. It uses a 256bit AES encryption and updates through Tor. You get parental control, advanced ad-blocking, and geo-unblocking by device. You might want to simulate your TV connecting to Netflix from the US while your phone stays in the UK. Just as an example.
Introduction Video
As with all Kickstarter projects, there is an introduction video to the product.
Multiple Versions
There will be multiple versions of the InvizBox. That allows you to pick a model that has what you need without paying for what you don’t need.
Kickstarter Campaign
The goal is close at the time of writing. With 11 days to go and 312 backers, the campaign has gained €48.134 out of its €50.000 goal. The project is based out of Dublin, Ireland which is nice for us Europeans. For us, there won’t be the heavy import tax that US-based projects suffer under.
If you want one of these devices, it starts at €69 for an InvizBox 2 with a 1-month VPN subscription. If you rather want a whole year of VPN service, then it’s €109. The pro version will set you back €149 with 1-year VPN while a combo pack of the Invizbox 2 and Go will cost you €159 with 1-month VPN. There are many more options, including a 5-pack with a 5-year VPN service for €1499.
If it peeked your interest, then you can head over to the campaign page, read more, and maybe even deliver your own pledge.
