Apple’s iPhone 15 has had a rocky launch, from its laughable USB 2.0 on the non-Pro models, overheating issues and now the old classic OLED trick of burn-in problems that many OLED phones including some of Samsung’s phones have experienced.
As reported by ZDnet.com, some users of the iPhone 15 Pro Max have been reporting burn-in effects on the OLED display of the phone which effectively ruins the display. Burn-in occurs when a static image is displayed on the screen for too long and is more common with OLED displays, which makes it strange why OLED is used on phones that are scrolling TikTok several hours a day. A Tweet from Tarun Vats shows the burn-in on several phones shared on Reddit and Apple discussions which look to completely ruin the display. The Pro Max was only released last month and burn-in should not be happening this quickly.
If you’re an Apple fan, it’s probably best to avoid the 15, I imagine those die-hard fans who upgrade every phone are feeling a bit miffed right now.
