Even with a much thinner profile compared to the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5 has managed to retain the same camera standard. It features an 8-megapixel sensor, a 5-element lens and f/2.4 aperture. Image capture is now 40% faster thanks to the A6 processor upgrade. Low light performance has also been upgraded too while the overall size of the camera optics is about 25% less.
Apple have added a new feature called shared photo streams. You can share a series of photos with friends and family to share and comment. The new iPhone 5 also makes Panorama official. By sweeping your phone you can capture up to a 28 mega pixel image. You shouldn’t get shaky images since the iPhone 5 features better stabilization.
The video capture remains similar, 1080p, good stabilization and facial recognition. The front-facing camera is now 720p, backside illuminated for improved FaceTime.
Apple have given the audio system three microphones: Front, bottom, and back. This allows the iPhone 5 to better detect voices and enact noise cancellation. The iPhone 5 also introduces wideband audio, basically a spectrum for a wider range of audio signals which should give better audio clarity.
