iPhone 5 pre-orders reach 100,000 with China Unicom

China’s second largest wireless carrier, China Unicom, began accepting pre-orders on Apple’s latest and greatest smartphone, the iPhone 5, on Monday.
The phone will be officially released on December 14, with early pre-order numbers looking quite good for the telco. Multiple reports are coming out of the country, which state that China Unicom have received over 100,000 pre-sale reservations for the iPhone 5 in the first 24 hours.
Considering the iPhone 4 day-one pre-order numbers were just 50,000 – this is a great improvement. I kind of expected more… because it’s “the iPhone”, but we’ll see how things go in the coming months.
