Is The iPhone 6s And 6s Plus Waterproof?

Apple’s launch presentation of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus concentrated on 3D Touch, enhanced camera optics and other minor tweaks. While these are interesting additions, they don’t really compare to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus’ integrated protection against water spillages. Bizarrely, Apple didn’t mention this at all during their conference despite the technology being a huge selling point to demanding customers. You only have to look on eBay to see the amount of handsets being sold at a major loss from liquid damage.
So how does it work? Apple employs an adhesive edge surrounding the handset which acts as a gasket and results in a 0.3mm size increase. This material is designed to block any water coming into contact with the internal components and the logic board also features a silicone cover. As a result, the handset is virtually waterproof and users have reported no issues after submerging their phone in water. However, hardware damage can occur to the headphone port or other external inputs.
In the video, we can see how water interacts with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and the protection integrated into each handset. This makes it one of the most rugged phones out there, but I’m perplexed why Apple kept this to themselves.
