Some say Apple is going to become the next Tesco. All we know is that a number of sources are talking (again) about the possibility of Apple producing an iOS powered full on HDTV with Samsung building the actual sets.
Unfortunately, we do not have any official reports as yet and as such our facts are a bit limited. However, if true, the set will have the abilities of the ‘Apple TV’ product that is around currently but it will be built into the TV. This means that it will use iTunes and play Netflix for instance. More interesting, it would be able to support third party apps and this is where the power of Apple really could come to fruition.
That said, the HDTV business is currently very cut throat and very price oriented, which is clearly against Apple trying to break into the market. While we would all probably like the quality and performance of an Apple-based HDTV how many of us would like the cost?
