iTunes is officially coming to the Windows Store. What on earth is happening here?Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria.
Yes, perhaps the world’s most popular music application is officially landing on the Windows Store as a fully supported application. With over 800,000,000 iTunes accounts, this is a welcome addition to Windows 10. Windows has of course always supported the Apple program. This is, however, the first instance where an official collaboration, of sorts, will exist.
Yes, you did not misread. The reasoning behind this is quite straight forward, Microsoft is acknowledging the fact that people search for the program on the Windows Store page. While Microsoft and Apple may not necessarily be friendly companies, their business agendas have drifted away from each other somewhat. Apple has not dominated the home PC market, and Windows’ late failed effort to break into the phone/device market flopped miserably.
What has resulted is an uneasy alliance of sorts where neither party has been trying too hard to press on the territory of the other.
Microsoft recently reported that Windows 10 had roughly obtained a 50% market share of the global operating systems. The operating system has been received exceptionally well and with updates such as the creator’s pack, continues to move in the right direction. With such a dominant share, the most logical step is to have to most popular programs available. Hence Apple iTunes is simply a must-have.
There have been criticisms that Microsoft was not getting enough quality content on their Store to make it viable. Such an announcement will undoubtedly please many of those who regularly use a Windows PC with iTunes.
While no official announcement, this might be a while in coming, but this signals the start of what could be an excellent relationship between 2 powerhouse companies.
Having just checked the Windows Store I can confirm it is not there at the moment, so don’t bother looking just yet. One does wonder whoever if the Windows and iTunes relationship sparks the beginning of an unholy alliance.
Tell your loved ones that you love them; the world might be ending soon.
