Even though the Core i3 won’t be featured amongst the mobile 3rd generation Core products, desktops will be offered the opportunity to work with this low powered processor. Planned on release are three SKUs for the transactional market and two in the low-power market.
Starting from the top is the Core i3 3240 with 3.4GHz clocked dual-core, four threads and 3MB of cache. It supports DDR3 1600 and 1333 memory but doesn’t offer any turbo, as a matter of fact, none of the Core i3 3000 do. It does however offer Intel HD 2500 graphics with 650MHz core clock and 1050MHz max clock with a TDP under 55W.
Following is the Core i3 3225 with 3.3GHz clocked dual core, four threads and 3MB of cache. Same story hear, support for DDR3 1600 and 1333 memory. The Core i3 3225 does offer a faster version of Intel HD 4000 graphics, usually found on the desktop Core i7, it offers clock speeds of 650MHz (1050MHz max). TDP in operation is once again under 55W.
The slowest of the three, the Core i3 3220, features the same specification sheet as the Core i3 3225 with the only difference being the graphics core with Intel HD 2500 graphics (650 /1050 MHz core clock).
The two other Core i3 offering a TDP of 35W are the Core i3 3240T with clock speed of 3GHz and the Core i3 3220T with 2.8GHz.
Scheduled for launch in Q3 2012, no precise release date is known.
