Jack Black Cast as Steve in Minecraft Movie

This is so far the first time I’ve heard of a Minecraft movie and already it sounds like it’s going to be a blast with Jack Black being cast in the upcoming Minecraft movie. Not just that, as one cast member to have already joined the crew is Jason Momoa, most known for his role in the original Baywatch and some small indie film called Aquaman, or my own favourite, Stargate Atlantis.

So far we don’t know much about Minecraft other than it will cast the previously named actors plus Emma Myers and Danielle Brooks. Also, the film will be directed by Jared Hess most known for Napoleon Dynamite who previously worked with Jack Black on Nacho Libre. The film will be a Warner Bros film set to open in theatres on April 4, 2025.

Other than that we know next to nothing about it. I would typically say that this sounds like a cash grab trying to ride off the wave of the Minecraft title but after the Super Mario Movie, this puts it into question whether or not it will be a soulless money grab.

So far the future is looking bright for Jack Black with one of his most notable performances and one of my favourite movie franchises getting another movie this being Kung Fu Panda. Not just that Lionsgate’s upcoming Borderlands movie and of course still riding the wave of The Super Mario Movie.
