John McAfee Accused of Second Murder

Insane Libertarian billionaire John McAfee – famous for both creating the McAfee antivirus software and for allegedly killing his neighbour in Belize – could be responsible for a second murder, a new documentary about the man claims. Gringo: The dangerous life of John McAfee, directed by the Oscar-nominated Nanette Burnstein, reveals that McAfee may be responsible for the torture and murder of Belizian man David Middleton. A former business partner of McAfee, Allison Adonizio, also accuses McAfee of drugging and raping her following an argument.

“Burstein’s film banks on numerous of interviews with those close to McAfee during his time in Belize: his bodyguards, staff, and numerous girlfriends, as well as local journalists and officials,” The Verge’s Michael Zelenko reports. “What emerges is a Colonel Kurtz-like portrait of a wealthy expat who manipulated local officials, traveled in armed convoys of hardened criminals, imposed neighborhood curfews, and paid staff to scout and pick up viable “girlfriends.”

“But most damning is a series of on-the-record interviews that suggest McAfee paid a bodyguard $5,000 to have Faull killed in retribution for Faull poisoning McAfee’s unruly dogs,” Zelenko adds. “When Burstein confronts the alleged hitman, he first denies responsibility, jokes it may have been his twin, and finally admits that if he were responsible, he would not be “crazy” enough to admit his guilt. Later over a phone call, the bodyguard tells Burstein an assassination attempt was made on his life following the interview. Since then, the bodyguard has been in hiding.”

In an interview with Bloomberg, McAfee claims that Gringo is a “fabrication,” accusing Burnstein of paying locals to lie, though admits that his life is “liable to get very interesting” following the release of the film.
