It’s been more than a little while now since we last heard about Evil Genius, or misunderstood marvel, John Mcafee. That opinion is, of course, largely dependant on how you view him (and what you think he might do to you if he finds out!). Last October, however, it had been confirmed that following a trip to Spain, he had been arrested and was facing, very likely, extradition to America to face many different charges, including tax evasion.
Well, following a report via TechSpot, he’s going to be really hoping now that he can successfully fight off being shipped to America as, following new charges being issued, he now faces over 100 years in jail for fraud.
According to legal files which have just been released to the public, John McAfee (and other associates of his) face 7 charges of fraud due to Cryptocurrency. Specifically, that John McAfee and his ‘partners’ would buy it, promote it on his social media accounts, then sell it as soon as the price rose. A practice that reportedly earned him and his colleagues $2m while costing investors around $13m. A scam colloquially referred to as a ‘pump and dump’.
Well, at the time of writing, John McAfee is still in Spanish custody fighting his extradition order. As such, it’s still entirely possible that he will be able to get out of that (somehow), escape the country, and again launch his bid to make himself President. At which point, he can pardon himself and problem solved.
It does, however, start to feel that the net is closing in on John McAfee, and, sooner or later, he’s going to be permanently behind bars.
We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again, this guy needs a movie made about him! – Why? Well, for more of the wacky adventures of John McAfee, click the link here!
