Legendary Game developer John Romero is launching his latest project called ‘Sigil’. It is basically a massive mod for the original Doom game from 1993.
It features nine single-player and nine deathmatch levels. So in typical Doom parlance, that makes this mod a ‘MegaWad’, since it offers more than five levels in one pack.
Romero even describes this as the true spiritual successor to the fourth episode of DOOM. Especially since it picks up where the original left off.
Since this is a mod, it will be available completely for FREE in February 2019. All you need is the original Doom game.
However, Romero is releasing two limited edition fan boxes created by Limited Run Games. A Standard Edition for $39.99 and a Beast Box Edition for $166. This will let fans have a physical copy of the game and more.
Obviously, the fan boxes offer bonuses that are not available in the free version. For example, they feature music by metal guitar legend Buckethead. It even has a custom song written expressly for SIGIL, with cover art by notable metal album cover artist Christopher Lovell.
