I daresay that over the course of the next 24 hours many kebabs will be consumed. Particularly at the early hours of 2018 from roadside kiosks. The ones where exactly what meat you might be getting is a matter of speculation rather than fact.
One place, however, you may struggle to find a kebab is in space. That is exactly where the JuPITTA kebab ended up though.
In a report via Metro Pascal Leuthold decided (for reasons entirely unclear) that he wanted to send a kebab into space. To do this he attached it to a weather balloon which are more often used to detect weather patterns in the upper atmosphere. In this instance, however, the balloon was solely for the purpose of getting this meal into space.
In fairness, since we can’t break the warp barrier, perhaps an ‘earth delicacy’ might tempt aliens to come say hello.
Utilising the weather balloon the JuPITTA kebab successfully reached a height of over 124,000 feet. That’s just a shade under 38 kilometres for our European friends.
Coming back to earth 2 hours later (with no bite marks notable) it was found to be completely frozen.
As part of a promotion for a new restaurant Pascal Leuthold has said: “We thought what better way to announce our new chain to the world, than launching one of our kebabs into space,’ said the chef. ‘One of the most impressive things was to watch the Kebab freeze. We didn’t think about this before, but of course, at this height, it’s very cold and the whole kebab was frozen solid.”
There’s nothing like ending the year with another example of proof that sometimes the human race does the weirdest things. Alas, not in time to make our list of weirdest stories of 2017 as this would certainly have been a contender.
