Mobile gaming on Android wasn’t really feasible before the introduction of Nvidia’s Shield tablet, and since the product in question offered decent performance and a decent price tag, it quickly became a favorite among mobile gaming enthusiasts. However, it looks like the Shield might receive some serious competition from a new tablet named JXD Singularity S192, which features integrated controllers as well as an attractive price tag. The tablet looks pretty much like a gaming controller, as it boasts buttons on its right and left sides. As far as hardware is concerned, this thing packs NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 SoC as well as 2GB of RAM, which means that it is able to deliver adequate performance in today’s mobile games. Another highlight comes in the form of an impressive 10,000mAh battery, which is considerably larger when compared to the Shield’s battery.
Measuring in at 7 inches, the JXD Singularity S192 comes with a smaller screen when compared to the Nvidia Shield, but considering the fact that the tablet is able to deliver 11 hours of video playback and up to 6 hours of gaming time, this sounds like a good trade to me. The rear-facing camera flaunts 13 MP while the front-facing one comes with 5MP, which is arguably a bit too much for a gaming tablet. On the connectivity side, this product offers Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
No word on an official release date just yet, but the company’s website lists the JXD Singularity S192 for $299, which is about the same price as a base Nvidia Shield. Taking into account the fact that it does not require an auxiliary controller, I think that this gaming tablet could become a strong competitor for Nvidia’s offering. What do you think?
