Kingston Demonstrates UV500 SATA SSD at CES 2018

Kingston had one more drive to show at CES 2018, or rather a series. The new UV500 is a 2.5-inch drive in the traditional sense, but it is also TCG-OPAL compliant.
Kingston UV500 SSD
A lot of you might be familiar with Kingston’s UV400 SSD. It has harvested a lot of awards for being a great HDD replacement and the UV500 follows in those footsteps. It comes with a great performance, for a SATA drive, but also a great feature set. To begin with, it features 256-bit AES hardware encryption. It is further TCP-OPAL 2.0 compliant which gives it a whole new level of protection. It is compatible with 3rd party ISV management software such as McAfee, WinMagi, and Symantec.
Capacity Options
When we talk capacity options, we stay very traditional with Kingston’s UV500. There will be a 240GB, a 480GB, and a 960GB version of this drive. The small 240GB will satisfy people who don’t use local storage but want a fast boot drive while the larger versions allow you to store a whole lot of data too.
The UV500 series doesn’t just come as a traditional 2.5-inch drive and Kingston hasn’t forgotten about the other form factors. There will be a mSATA and an M.2 version of this drive too. They both come with the same capacity options and specifications as the 2.5-inch drive. The only difference should be the interface which you connect it with and the physical size and shape.
Pricing and Availability
We don’t know a whole lot about the price nor the availability yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you informed when the information is released. For now, you can enjoy all our CES 2018 content where there are plenty of other storage drives. That includes Kingston’s new A1000 NVMe SSD and the impressive 40-drive NVMe storage server in a 1U chassis.
