In the UK the HyperX Fury 8GB 1866MHz kit retails for £64.99 at Overclockers UK for all colours and £60.24 at Amazon for all colours. In North America Newegg stocks this kit for $85 but some of the other kits cost $80, at Amazon they are fetching a fairly hefty $100 but the white kit is stupidly cheap at $73 so maybe Amazon are still sorting their pricing out. The HyperX Fury kits all come with a lifetime warranty from Kingston. Pricing is accurate at the time of writing.

Overview

Having taken a fairly in-depth look at Kingston’s HyperX Fury series I think it’s fair to say they are great little memory kits. When I reviewed Kingston’s NaVi Limited Edition memory kit last year I was disappointed by the lack of different speeds and capacities on offer. The HyperX Fury series goes a fair way to correct that because it offers a range of capacities, a range of speeds, a range of colours and competitive pricing. I think Kingston could have benefited from maybe offering an additional speed such as 2000MHz or 2133MHz but I think 1866MHz is a fairly good sweet spot offering and most people would be happy with it. Kingston also did well with the colour options offering red, blue, black and white in combination with the famed black PCB. They are pretty much the main colours needed, only green and yellow are missing and those are for fairly niche products like MSI’s Lightning series and Gigabyte’s G1 Killer series.

In terms of performance we found in synthetics the HyperX Fury modules were a bit slower than the competition although this didn’t materialise into more realistic benchmarks so its fair to say the performance is comparable to other kits of a similar speed. At the end of the day “memory is memory” to a large extent so I do not have any complaints in that regard. Overclocking impressed me the most, being able to bump these kits to 2400MHz is one heck of an achievement and makes me think that even though they don’t offer 2000/2133MHz kits – you can easily get those speeds by overclocking. Talking of frequencies I like what Kingston did with the PnP auto-detect function, I was surprised to see the HyperX Fury kits boot in at the correct settings without even needing to enter the BIOS. My only gripe was that the auto-detect settings were 10-11-10-30 and Kingston’s spec states 10-10-10-30 which is different. However, in other reviews I’ve seen the same 10-11-10-30 timings being achieved in testing so I think Kingston just need to update their spec. I also feel like the omission of XMP might worry a few people who are used to the way XMP works and have taken it for granted.
