Kingston HyperX Lovo 1866MHz Low Voltage Memory Kit Review

A Closer LookThis memory comes supplied in the usual plastic tray that we’ve seen from Kingston for quite some time now. It includes the standard barcode sticker which acts as a security seal. By using a plastic casing, it gives a clear view of the modules through the packaging.

The barcode sticker reveals the model number of the memory, size of the kit, speed of the modules and CAS latency. The cas latency on these modules is 9 and the full model number is KHX1866C9D3LK2/4GX.

Inside for those who are unaware is a warranty and installation guide which is packaged with every memory module kit from Kingston and details the lifetime warranty and a brief guide on installing the modules.

The modules are part of the HyperX range and therefore include the typical heatspreaders that we’ve seen in the past, but being part of the LoVo range sees the heatspreaders coloured in green as opposed to the typical blue of silver heatspreaders that we are used to.

In typical fashion the DDR3 logo is printed on the heatspreaders to clarify what platform your modules are for. There is also a sticker with plenty of information about the modules.

The sticker tells us the module numbers, how big the kit is, and relevant voltage. As these modules are part of the LoVo range, the voltage at its rated speed of 1866MHz is 1.35V but if using the memory at lower than specified speeds the voltage can be dropped to 1.25V instead.

Upon installing the memory and choosing the appropriate profile for the speed you want, we booted into Windows with no problem whatsoever leaving CPU-Z to show the correct speed specified.

We also thought that we’d show how Windows 7 rates this memory using the Windows Experience Score Index. It is also worth noting that we didn’t have any graphics card drivers installed hence the graphics card score.
