Kingston HyperX X2 Grey Series 4GB 1600MHz Memory Kit Review
A Closer LookAs with all Kingston memory, they come in the typical plastic tray that enables you to see the modules. There is also an included security seal with the relevant details of the memory modules upon it.
The security seal wraps across the front of the packaging and gives information on the model number, voltage and CAS latency. The full model number of this kit as printed on the label is KHX1600C9D3X2K2/4GX.
As we have come to expect with memory modules in this day and age, the majority of manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty. Kingston have supplied a guide that talks through simple installation and gives information of the lifetime warranty that Kingston offer to their customers.
The modules are part of the HyperX Genesis range and therefore come with the newer grey heatspreaders which makes them easily identifiable from the older blue heatspreaders used on the standard HyperX range.
The HyperX and Kingston logo are present on both sides of the modules with one side including an authentic Kingston hologram and sticker label confirming the specifications of the modules.
The label gives us information on the model number, kit size, speed and voltage. The voltage rating for this memory is 1.65V and operates at 1600MHz.
After the memory was installed, we were able to choose the appropriate XMP profile and boot into Windows with no issues.
Great review & another platinum award! I think that this new award will really help in identifying the products that are really standing out of the crowd.
Nice to see a non-Logitech product win! It's very rare us reviewers can't find something wrong and this certainly looks well deserved!
Nice review Andy, will be looking for some DDR3 memory soon so will keep these in mind, I normaly allways get crucial but these look good as well as performing good.
thanks for the review these definitely are simply just going to work properly at stock for quite a few ,easy to setup and the price is great . kinda like the dark grey as well .
My country doesn't know what cheap, or value for money means. WTH… Even with 40% discounts, these RAMs currently costs here for about $80. =_=Anyway, I will buy these awesome pair of HyperX RAMs even with a *censored* price because they're fast, stylish, reliable, and comes with a warranty that is already tested by no other than myself. Thanks for the review Andy.
