OverclockingWhenever we start to overclock memory, we first make sure that the memory is able to run at its stock settings and to rule out any errors with the memory and to make sure they are not part of a “bad batch”.
Once we have performed our normal checks we were able to enter the BIOS and increase the memory clock speed.
We were able to increase the memory from its stock speed of 1600MHz to 1664MHz. Not a great accomplishment but you can’t moan when you get some more performance for free, especially considering the price and market place for this memory. We also made sure when overclocking that we didn’t touch the timings or voltage to see how far the memory could be pushed by any type of user.
The increased speed showed a slight increase in performance across the board, in terms of read, write and copy speeds.
MaxxMEM2 saw slightly better results with quite large increases in speed and a good decrease in overall memory latency.
