Kingston has unveiled its latest SSD, the NV3, aimed at budget-conscious consumers seeking high-performance storage solutions. This new drive succeeds the popular NV2, offering significant improvements in speed and capacity.
Kingston Unveils High-Speed NV3 SSD
The NV3 features sequential read speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s for the 1 TB and larger models, nearly double the 3,500 MB/s of the NV2. Write speeds also see a substantial increase, reaching up to 5,000 MB/s for the 2 TB and 4 TB versions. The 1 TB model offers improved write speeds, while the 500 GB version sees modest performance gains.
Kingston’s NV3 will initially launch in 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities, with a 4 TB option expected later this year. Endurance ratings remain consistent with the NV2, starting at 160 TBW for the 500 GB model and scaling up to 1280 TBW for the 4 TB variant.
The drive is built with a PCIe 4.0 interface, ensuring compatibility with the latest systems and delivering high-speed, low-power storage. Although the exact controller and NAND details are not yet disclosed, Kingston confirms the use of 3D NAND technology.
The NV3 addresses the issues seen in the NV2, which suffered from poor performance and high temperatures. With better performance metrics, the NV3 aims to be a reliable choice for low-cost builds, gaming consoles, notebooks, and PCs.
