Kingston MobileLite Wireless Reader & Charger Review

Looking a little closer at the MobileLite, it may seem to be a rather large unit as an initial impression., however it has to be taken into account that within the case, which I may add is rather slim for what it is, Kingston have crammed in the running gear for a Wifi access point, an SD card reader, USB ports and a modest 1800mAh 3.7V battery. To give a little bit of contrast to the design, the majority of the upper part of the case is in a light grey colour with a black part to the left, whilst the underside is all in plain black plastic.
Towards the lower left hand corner, we find a single power button to turn the unit on with a reset hole just to the right of this. On the upper face of the case, a series of LED indicate the battery level, wireless activity and internet connectivity.
On the same end of the unit as the power and LEDs, are two USB ports, one full sized and one micro-USB. The smaller port is used to charge the device and also connect it to a PC for adding data to the connected card whilst the full sized port is for connecting devices such as mobile phones to for charging purposes as well as connecting USB storage devices for access via the MobileLite app.
On the opposite end is a single SD card slot which is compatible with SD, SDHC, SDXC and microSD cards through the included adaptor.
Lining the MobileLite up alongside a Nexus 4, its easier to get a feel for how big the unit is, whilst a little thicker than the phone (around 50%) sliding both into my pocket together didn’t give the feeling that it was too bulky and unless you’re charging your phone from it, you could always stick it into another pocket, or bag due to its wireless connectivity.
