Looking at the Android version of the MobileLite app, which as mentioned before is free to download from Google Play as well as the iOS version from the App Store, the app is very simple and intuitive to use with clear menus that guide you through the various sections of the device’s storage.
The app can natively play all music content, whilst video content is handled by the connected devices respective media players. As far as video format support goes, its down to the end devices own compatibility list as to whether content will play or not. Typically all mp4 and avi files will play, whilst in most cases, where .mkv files will be shown, most devices are unable to playback this format.
The photo gallery also has a great layout showing clear photos that can be individually viewed once selected.
Moving on to the setting menu, which can be found to the top right of the app, the settings are broken down in to three sections, for general information, security and wireless connectivity. The general screen shows the devices name, battery status as well as the current firmware versions.
Security is a major part of any wireless device and out of the box, this option is disabled for ease of getting started with the option there for WPA2 encryption for the 802.11g/n adaptor.
The last option allows the device to act as a network bridge to pass through an internet connection through to the (up to) three connected devices so that the option of internet or stored data is not necessary.
