Pricing

At the time of writing, Kingston’s SDA3 256GB SDXC UHS-I U3 memory card can be had for just $139.99 through NewEgg, £80.42 through CCL Online, or €110.40 through Geizhals.

Conclusion

The Kingston SDA3 would be a great card in any D-SLR and D-SLM camera as well as 4K camcorders. The card is available in capacities all the way up to 256GB as the one that I’ve tested today, and that is something that is particular welcome for high-resolution videographers.

The SDA3 SDXC card performed great in our Lexar Professional Workflow card reader and showed a steady performance around the official rating of 90MB/s while reading and 80MB/s writing. We also saw a steady performance as the card was filled with data, and that is a very important factor. Cheap memory cards can drop severely in performance as the get full which could mean that the card no longer is able to keep up with the data rate sent from the camera. That is no worry here on Kingston’s SDA3 card as it shows a steady line throughout all the test, only being a little slower when freshly unpacked.

SD cards are very reliable and robust, and Kingston’s SDA3 is waterproof, shock and vibration proof, airport X-ray proof, as well as suited for operations in harsh environments. This combined with the lifetime warranty and cheap price of just £0.31 per GB of unformatted storage.

Pros

  • Good performance
  • Rugged, reliable, and long warranty
  • Large capacities at low price
  • Suited for 4K video and burst photo

Cons

  • No protective case included

“Kingston’s large capacity SDA3 SDXC memory cards won’t let you down or run out of storage any time soon. A perfect companion for your digital image recorder.”
