At the time of this review, the Kingston UV500 240GB can be yours for £69.39. The larger 480GB will cost you £141.36 and the smaller 120GB £39.44.

Kingston UV500 SSD

The new UV500 series from Kingston will fit almost any system. With 2.5-inch, mSATA and M.2 form factors available, there isn’t a whole lot of places it won’t fit. The M.2 version, which I reviewed today, is simple in its design. It’s a single-sided M.2 2280 module with a sticker on top.

Performance and Endurance

The UV500 is a mid-range drive with a mid-range performance. It can’t keep up with the faster NVMe drives, which is given, but it does well for a SATA drive. That said, it lands quite low in most our comparison charts. On the other hand, it’s quite cheap. So it’s a turn-up, between price and performance.

Features

On special features, the UV500 offers AES 256-bit Hardware Encryption, Self-Encrypting Drive (SED), and TCG Opal 2.0. LDPC and End-to-end data protection are also part of the package.
