KLEVV Cras C925 1TB Gen4 M.2 SSD Review
How Much Does it Cost?
The KLEVV CRAS C925 1TB SSD MSRP is very competitive, with the 500GB coming in at around $50, the 1TB at around $66-70, and the 2TB around $110. Unfortunately, at the time of writing I couldn’t find stock at any major retailers. This happens often though, it may simply be sold out or awaiting a new batch of stock, and will likely update soon. However, you can check Amazon US for stock and prices here, or Amazon UK here.
Conclusion
The KLEVV CRAS C925 1TB SSD delivers a compelling package of performance, features, and value. It operates at speeds that are virtually at the upper limit of what PCIe Gen4 technology can offer, making it suitable for a wide range of demanding applications, from gaming and content creation to everyday computing tasks. The inclusion of an aluminium heatsink ensures effective thermal management, preventing performance throttling even under sustained workloads, and as a nice bonus, it will even work with consoles such as the PlayStation 5.
Build Quality
The single-sided design of the CRAS C925 is a testament to its thoughtful engineering, allowing for compatibility with a broad range of systems, including slim laptops and the PlayStation 5. The PCB and components are of high quality, and the included heatsink feels sturdy and well-constructed. We saw this in the tear down, with two NAND chips on the 1TB model, so we assume it has one on the 512GB and four on the 2TB model, all maintaining that same single sided design.
Read and Write Performance
The drive’s performance in our benchmarks was exceptional, nearly matching its advertised speeds. The consistent read and write speeds, combined with low latency and high IOPS, make it a responsive and reliable storage solution. Moving lots of small files or large files was a breeze, and the drive maintained low access times throughout all tests.
Gaming Performance
In gaming scenarios, the CRAS C925 excelled, delivering fast loading times and smooth gameplay. Its performance in Final Fantasy Endwalker, achieving an “extremely high” rating, is a clear indicator of its gaming prowess, and that will translate to any game with large install sizes and high resolution assets.
Thermal Performance
The included heatsink effectively manages the drive’s temperature, ensuring stable performance even under heavy loads. The drive remained well within safe operating temperatures throughout our testing, never exceeding 58 °C, and well under the threshold of where the drive would succumb to thermal throttling.
Should I Buy One?
If you’re looking for a high-performance Gen4 NVMe SSD that offers excellent value for money, the KLEVV CRAS C925 1TB is a fantastic choice. Its impressive read and write speeds, robust build quality, and effective thermal management make it a strong contender in its class. Whether you’re a gamer, content creator, or simply seeking a fast and reliable storage solution, the CRAS C925 is well worth considering. Its competitive pricing, included heatsink and broad compatibility make it a very strong contender in a very competitive market.
