How Much Does It Cost?

I’m struggling to narrow down the right price for this memory, but let’s not beat around the bush, it’s not going to be cheap. On Amazon I think the price isn’t right, even though it’s an expensive memory kit, this seems a little too expensive to me. But at the same time, if you want memory that’s as fast as possible, and built to such a high standard, you best be ready to throw down some serious paper money. You can check for up-to-date stock and prices here.

Overview

Without a doubt, this is some pretty extreme memory, perhaps too extreme for most of you, both in terms of what you actually need for your system and if you can afford it or not. If it was my money, I think I would bow out for something a little more wallet-friendly, but at the same time, I can’t argue with the performance it offers either.

Keep in mind, however, that while this is a pretty extreme kit, we did review the absolute top-tier model in this range, and some lower speeds and timing kits are available too, and they will be quite a bit cheaper. You may think you want 8000 MT/s, but frankly, it’s not as easy as that. The QVL support list is pretty limited so you best make sure that you either have or purchase a motherboard that can support this memory, and even more so can support it at its full 8000 MT/s speeds. A further note would be that your motherboard would likely also have a BIOS update to contend with first before you apply the full speeds, just keep that in mind before pulling your hair out trying to debug it.

Overclocking is possible, and some systems may require you to OC just to get the rated speeds, but again, some may just natively support it on the XMP profile too. With 1.55 volts, there’s certainly a lot of power here, and any enthusiast with some experience of playing with memory settings should have no trouble fine-tuning the KLEVV CRAS XR5.

When it came to some synthetic benchmarks, it was slightly behind in a few cases, but still without shouting distance of any competition. Largely, keep in mind we pretty much only test amazing memory kits, so the difference between them right now is very small, and the CRAS held up great throughout. Especially in gaming, where it held its own against the best of the best from a few other big-name brands.

Should I Buy One?

With flawless build quality, premium components, and beautifully finished materials, the KLEVV CRAS XR5 are some of the finest-looking memory kits we’ve ever seen. With competitive RGB lighting effects and blisteringly fast speeds, you really couldn’t ask for a much better memory kit right now. Highly recommended to those building flagship-class gaming PCs and workstations, and while they’re not cheap memory kits, in a top-tier system, the KLEVV CRAS XR5 is still likely to be one of the cheapest components of your build.
