Hideo Kojima Says that Despite Many Big Offers His Studio Will Remain Independent!

While Kojima Productions only technically has one game under its belt so far (Death Stranding) it’s hard to deny that in terms of prestige, while they might be small, they’re undoubtedly a highly desirable proposition for any takeover attempt. – Founder Hideo Kojima, however, has regularly stated that he never plans to lose his independence again following his seemingly acrimonious split from Konami several years ago.

And in something that once again reinforces this, following a report via DualShockers, Hideo Kojima has once again stated that, despite apparently regularly receiving big offers, he still has no plans whatsoever to give up his development company!

Kojima Products, Despite Big Offers, Will Continue to Be Independent!

Speaking in an interview Hideo Kojima confirmed that his game development studio has received a number of incredibly substantial takeover offers over the last few years, but he has personally rejected them all. – Seemingly learning from his lessons of the past (as in, what can happen when you don’t have control) he has cited that he plans to keep Kojima Productions as truly independent as possible ‘for as long as [he] lives’.

Of course, though, interest in his studio is undoubtedly always going to be high. Predominantly because Hideo Kojima is only rivalled by someone like Shigeru Miyamoto in terms of prestige! – With a new game on the way, however, we daresay that a lot of publishers have been rather keen to try and snag the rights to it and most notably likely Sony and Microsoft as some kind of planned exclusive launch.

Again though, rest easy folks as Hideo has once again reaffirmed that he will never ‘sell out’ his studio. The man has clearly learned his lessons from his time at Konami!
