The Kolink external 2.5-inch drive enclosure provides a mobile home for both mechanical hard drives and flash-based SSDs up to 9mm in height. The black external case is made of brushed aluminum and therefore fells and looks of high quality.
The installation of a hard drive in the Kolink housing is very simple by hand and only requires a screwdriver which is included with the delivery. The integrated SATA interface supports the proven SATA 3G standard, whose realistic achievable bandwidth is a maximum of 300 MB / s (= 3 Gbit / s), which is more than adequate for conventional hard drives. The enclosure supports volumes up to 3TB in capacity.
Although even the fastest notebook HDDs can only achieve just over 120 MB / s as the transfer rate, they are slowed down considerably by the classic USB 2.0 standard, so that Kolink’s external housing here relies on a current USB 3.0 port with a theoretical data rate of 640 MB / s (= 5 Gbit / s) familiar. This even high-performance solid-state drives can perform a high performance that trumps any hard drive.
The connection between the external drive and a PC, laptop or other device via a corresponding USB 3.0 cable from Micro-USB-to-USB, which is also supplied with a black leather case.
