Kolink Rocket Aluminium Mini-ITX Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

The Kolink Rocket Aluminium Mini-ITX Case in Titanium Grey is available now from Overclockers UK. It’s priced at £159.95, which is certainly not cheap. However, with that stunning brushed aluminium construction throughout, you’re certainly getting a product that looks and feels worthy of the retail price. Realistically, the chassis is only around £90 of that though, as a PCIe riser cable can easily cost £70. Not sure why they’re so damn expensive, but it is what it is.

Overview

The moment I say this chassis, I knew I was going to love it. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, or a chassis by its box, or whatever. However, I made up my mind pretty quick with this one. That’s easier to do when there’s hardly anything to it, what you see is what you get, a little grey rectangle. However, if I was to go out today and pick a chassis for a compact and stylish gaming rig, it would be going in the Rocket.

Build Quality

The use of thick aluminium panels means this chassis is very strong and well made. It’s not as light as you might think though, aluminium may not be heavy, but there’s plenty of it here to make up the weight. Everything screws together snug, everything fits with ease, and the overall layout and ergonomics work really well. A lot of thought has gone into the design here, despite looking rather simplistic on the exterior.

Added Value

While I normally would say how you get value for money based on feature a, feature b, etc, that’s not true here. You get a £90 chassis and a £70 PCIe cable for the cost of both. That’s not a bad thing, I mean, you’re literally getting what you pay for. I guess I do like the inclusion of the internal 80mm fan, the fact the PCIe cable is pre-installed, and the hidden 2.5″ drive mounts. However, the chassis is priced for what you get and not a penny less. However, it’s worth every penny too.

Should I Buy One

From a stylish desktop chassis in the office to a slick looking HTPC build, the Kolink Rocket is perfect for the job. With the mini-ITX motherboard market offering everything from X299 to Ryzen With Vega solutions these days, you can really create something special with this chassis. Personally, I would love one on my desk, or even just as a highly portable gaming system for a VR rig or LAN gaming system. It’s expensive, but the premium build materials, build quality, and that stunning titanium grey finish make it all worth it.
