Konami Skipping E3 – Hints That Big Things Are Coming
Mike Sanders / 4 years ago
Konami undoubtedly represents one of the most frustrating developers for fans of gaming. While they have an absolute mountain of excellent IPs falling under their umbrella (such as Silent Hill, Metal Gear, etc.) for pretty much the last 5 years, they have seemingly stubbornly refused to produce anything. Well, expect pachinko machines and Metal Gear Survive. Regarding the former, though, most of us don’t care, and in regards to the latter, well, I think we’d all rather pretend that never happened.
Following a report via Eurogamer, however, we have some both good and bad news. The bad news is that Konami has said that they will not be attending E3 2021. However, the good news is that they have said that a number of ‘key project’ are currently in ‘deep development’!
Konami Hints That They’re Making GAMES?!
If we’re erring towards the cynical side, the announcement isn’t honestly overly surprising. Given that there have been rumours for at least the last 6 months though that something was underfoot at the developer, there were still clearly hopes that something might’ve been revealed at E3 this year. There is, however, a big silver lining to be taken from this news. Namely, that Konami has used the plural ‘key projects’, meaning that, all going well, they might have several new gaming titles currently in development.
Well, either that or they have a brand spanking new pachinko machine to show off… God I hope not!

What Do We Think?
If something game-wise is happening at Konami, we likely shouldn’t expect to hear any news until the end of this year or possibly even the early part of 2022. Let’s face it, though, the mere thought of them actually getting back into the business of making games is exciting. I mean, which would you be more anxious to see? A brand new Metal Gear Solid? Maybe even the long-rumoured remake of the original? What about a new release in the silent Hill franchise?…
