Before I ever got around to playing Dragon Age and Mass Effect, I started off with an incredible game called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which is arguably one of the best role-playing video games ever released. Developed by BioWare before they were purchased by EA, the game was launched in 2003 and was received with open arms by RPG fans, and so company released a sequel named Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords just a year later. Even though it’s been a long time since these games were released, it looks like they’re still receiving plenty of attention from fans.
Poem Studios is currently working on a reboot of KOTOR named Apeiron, which will include a completely remastered version of the original game using Unreal Engine 4, as well as new worlds, new missions, new items, companions and HUD changes. The team behind the project includes a “group of dedicated programmers, artists, voice actors, world builders, and writers that have all come together to breathe life back into a wonderful game.” Moreover, the team is currently looking to recruit new talent, so if you think that you have what it takes to help out with Apeiron, you should definitely head over to the project’s official website and try to reach out to Poem Studios. Apeiron will be completely free, which means that plenty of KOTOR fans will be able to enjoy it. Even though there’s no news on a potential release date at this time, the screenshots that we’ve seen so far certainly look promising.
