Kunkun Body Odour Detector Tells You if you Stink

The Kunkun Body odor detector tells you just how stinky you are
We’ve all had those days. We leave to go to the office and have forgotten to give the pits a blast of deodorant. It can often be a little embarring when you start to emit an odor during the day but imagine how much worse it is when you are and you don’t know it!
Well, all of your problems are solved. The Kunkun body odors detector is designed to work with your smart device to specifically tell you how good (or bad) you’re smelling.
With settings for several parts of your body, the detector evaluates on a scale of 0-100 just how you’re smelling and comes to us via CNET. All you need to do to make it work is download the app and hold the sensor about 1cm away from the area you want sniffing.
At this point, if you think this sounds crazy, you clearly didn’t notice the Star Wars Millennium Falcon waffle iron.
The logic behind the device
I would hope that most of us know how stinky we really are. There is, however a logic to this product and it is rooted in Japanese culture.
Japan has a very strict culture of social politeness. There are rules designed within the culture to ensure that your impact is as minimalist and inconvenient to others as possible. For example, use of a mobile phone in a confined public space in Japan is very frowned upon. Shoes indoors is a major faux-pas. Handshakes are generally limp and no eye contact should be made.
This technology is likely an extension of this culture. If you know you don’t smell, you know you’re not being antisocial. It’s almost as bizarre as the Minions themed cafe, but still, it is part of Japanese culture.
Retailing for about £200 though, that safety squirt of deodorant is certainly a less expensive alternative.
