The KWorld S28 Elite are available for around £30, which is fantastic value for money given their performance and build quality. You can find better in-ear headphones, but you can expect to pay more for the privilege before you see any real improvement in quality, making the S28 a deal worthy of your attention.
Overview
I know a lot of people haven’t heard of the brand KWorld, but they’re a brand I’ve actually been using for quite a few years now. I’ve had a set of their desktop speakers on my spare office desk since I reviewed them here on eTeknix five years ago, and while they still work perfectly and sound great, despite being what I would class as budget speakers. That gives me some personal confidence with the S28 Elite, they’re still an affordable bit of kit, but the build quality is easily on par with more expensive models too. Affordable but don’t look of feel cheap, I’ll take that as a win win.
Marketing buzz words on the packaging can often be taken with a pinch of salt, but the Kworld S28 Elite have lived up to their promise of delivering punchy bass, they really do pack a bit of a bang. They’re powerful, loud, distortion free and great for rocking out to music, playing games, even just watching a movie on your tablet. Sure they’re marketed as a gaming headset, but they’re really just decent headphones for how most people will use them. The built-in microphone does a good job overall, but it’s most likely you’ll be using it for the occasional hands-free call on your mobile phone than anything gaming related.
I do feel that KWorld sold themselves short with this headset, however, as for a gaming headset it’s not really ticking all the boxes it could without the inclusion of a Y-split cable so you can use the headphones and microphones together on PC, which rarely support 4-pole jacks. Sure you can pick up a cable to do this yourself, but I would rather see it included in the box.
Pros
Cons
“Compact, powerful, and affordable. The KWorld S28 may not innovate, but they deliver a bigger sound and better build quality than the retail price would suggest, making them an excellent choice for those who love their enjoying their media on the go.”
