Lacie preps 260MB/s USB flash drive

With 2011 lining itself up to be the year of the tablet, new innovations in SSD technology are especially welcome.

This USB key from Lacie is no exception; delivering blistering 260MB/s performance, this drive easily leaves a lot of this year’s Sata SSDs in the dust.

Available in 30, 60 and 120GB varieties, at $150, $250 and $475 respectively, the drives offer an attractive alternative to internal SSDs for operating systems, as well as a possible simple upgrade for limited space form-factor cases, such as HTPCs, or even as a fast upgrade to an old laptop.

Hopefully we will have the opportunity to review one of these ourselves in the new year.
